Enjoying Indian Food - Chicago

I remember distinctly the first time I tried Indian food. I was a chaplain in the harbour of Montreal and in the evenings I drove out to the ships to give a ride to the sailors downtown. One night while I waited, the cook of a ship from India called be to the kitchen and said, "Heh, you want to try some Indian food?" I said, "Sure, sounds great!" I remember the chapatis the biryani rice the creamy, spicy sauce with the chicken. This was a revelation! I'd never tasted such intense and yet warm and inviting flavors! Even though the cook did tell me the spice level of the dish he made for me was at the level for a sick person in India!

This group is all about savoring Indian food. We will be visiting Indian restaurants and enjoying them together. Though there is no cuisine I enjoy more on the planet, and though I enjoy cooking Indian food I still consider myself a novice.
