John Reed's Bio:
John Reed has deep experience on “both sides of the desk” for technology growth companies, both as a principal or cofounder arranging funding, and as an investor deploying capital. He has co-founded and managed a dozen venture-backed technology companies through fundings, initial public offerings, and strategic exits.
He serves as managing partner of Azalea Ventures, and currently serves as chief strategic officer for BankSocial, chairman of Earthview and Johnny Appleseed Orchards, and serves on multiple boards.
Mr. Reed co-founded Tech Wildcatters, a top-10 ranked accelerator which, while a general partner, funded development of over 100 technology startups in its first seven funds. Tech Wildcatters companies currently employ over 550, and have raised over $500M in follow-on financing.
Mr. Reed managed the acquisition, turnaround and sale of John Rigby & Co., a 275-year-old British brand; the structure and financing of Pathfinder Ranches, a 600,000-acre wind farm, energy storage, and conservation development; and Azalea Fund, LP, which financed development and sale of Oklahoma's 200MW Goodwell wind farm and New Mexico's 522MW Sagamore development.
Mr. Reed began his career at the Trammell Crow Company in Dallas, and holds a Master of Business Administration with a focus on Finance and Accounting from SMU Cox School of Business, a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin, and studied Physics at Tulane University. Mr. Reed is a member of Dallas YPO, and is a previous president of the SMU MBA Alumni Association.
