Roxbury Township Litter Cleanup Day

Details
Roxbury Township's second annual town-wide Litter Clean-Up Day will take place Saturday, Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to noon, commencing at the Roxbury Department of Public Works (DPW) office at 96 North Dell Ave., in Kenvil.
The goal of the day is for individuals, residents, businesses & groups to join the community as volunteers to help clean up parks, trails, woodlands, roadsides, neighborhoods and waterways of litter.
The day will begin with an appreciation breakfast and free T-shirts for the first 100 participants, followed by assignments and instructions. Tasks are given according to age and safety. Trash bags, gloves and vests will be provided.
This is not only an ideal event for individuals, groups, employees or students to receive community service hours but also a great way for environmental enthusiasts to contribute towards beautifying Roxbury.
Volunteers of all ages can to sign up online at www.roxburynj.us/cleanupform or call 973-448-2053 for additional information. Volunteers can be from any town, not just Roxbury.
Individuals are much more likely to litter into a littered environment. By contrast, a clean community discourages littering and improves overall community quality of life.
Availability and proximity to trash and recycling receptacles also impact whether someone chooses to litter. So if you see a rogue piece of trash on your morning walk, pick it up and throw it away. Basically, litter produces more litter.
