Remembering and Responding to the 2025 Los Angeles Wildfires
In January 2025, wildfires devastated the Los Angeles basin, with Palisades and Altadena suffering severe losses—about 18,000 buildings destroyed, up to 440 fatalities, 200,000 evacuations, and over 57,000 acres burned. Pacific Palisades was nearly obliterated.
A year later, "Climate Talks for Everyone" gathers students from Palisades High and Santa Monica High at the former site of Palisades High to reflect on the disaster. Moderated by a Fridays for Future Newsletter representative, the event features student accounts of loss and resilience and calls for urgent climate action, livestreamed nationwide via Zoom, Facebook, and YouTube.
Organized by Fridays for Future and the Northern Arizona Climate Change Alliance, the global broadcast includes firsthand stories, photos, and videos, led by moderator Ann Kinney-Eittinger. After the panel, a brief Q&A allows attendees to interact directly with speakers.
