Edge of the Mountain Sport & Social - Denver/Boulder

Mixed pavement/gravel/4WD bike ride. Up Boulder Canyon to Sugarloaf > Switzerland Trail > finish up by descending Four Mile Canyon back to Boulder. Boulder Canyon is mostly pavement (short section of crushed gravel); Sugarloaf is mixed pavement/gravel; Switzerland Trail is a 4WD road; Four Mile is mostly pavement with a little gravel near the top. The Switzerland Trail is supposedly rideable by a gravel bike with the right tires (40+). But, I'll be on a trail MTB because I think it will be more fun that way.

Meet at the Boulder County Justice Center, far east end of the parking lot, ready to roll out at 0800 sharp on Saturday morning, 8/23. Free parking at the Justice Center on the weekends.

This will be an intermediate pace, no-drop ride. We'll regroup a few times during the ride so nobody gets left behind. That said, this is a fairly serious ride (28miles/3200ft), so please do an honest self evaluation and make sure you're ready for it. I expect the round trip will take 3-ish hours.

Optional coffee in Boulder afterwards.

Sign-up on the waitlist and when your railbike is confirmed, I will move you to going.

Rides are booked per railbike $189 with tax and not per person. It's 4 people per railbike. $ 47.25 each with tax. They have 15 railbikes left, so let's see if Meetup can take over the 7:30 pm slot. You need to get there 30 minutes before for check-in, intros and group pics.

Details:
A special seasonal nighttime departure featuring their lantern lighted railbikes, a short historic ghost story and spooky decorations along the route. Their dark departures are shorter in length at just over two miles total to ensure they're not crossing the bridge or any streets in the dark.

Food/Drink Policy:
Food and Drink is allowed! Each railbike has a basket with room for a daypack or soft cooler. Railbikes are a hands-free activity so you can snack and sip along the way or unwind at the turnaround spots. The only exception is they don’t allow alcoholic beverages on their ride.
Water and Snacks are Available Onsite for Purchase as well.

What To Bring:
Dress comfortably for the weather. Think about temperature and being outdoors. Wear comfortable secure footwear. Closed toe shoes are recommended. If you lose your flip-flop while pedaling you can’t stop to pick it up.
