This café may be a bit of a challenge to find on rainy days 🌧️☔️, but that's how adventures begin, right? 😂 Well, don't wait until you get hopelessly lost - text me here before you start cursing google maps 🗺️. The idea: Join the table once you've grabbed your order - mandatory! We'll kick-off with a light intro and move over to topics like activities, travel, music... At some point, if we are feeling it, we may also play some games. We will speak mostly English and French. Spring is doing its yearly cameo in Brussels, so we’re stealing the good weather for a **garden BBQ**: grill smoke, laughs, games of cards, new friends, and language switching mid-sentence like civilized chaos. The goal is easy language practice, meeting new people, and having a good time. This is a **bring & share** setup: you show up with something tasty, you leave with new words, new people ### **The vibe** * Backyard BBQ, relaxed and social * Language exchange baked into the night (talk, eat, switch languages, repeat) * Cultural food is strongly encouraged: bring your “this is what we eat at home” item ### **Languages** Host are fluent in **English, Italian, French, Spanish**, **Tamoul, German.** If you speak anything else, bring it. Shake off the last of the winter blues and join us for a vibrant spring walk through the beautiful **Polders van Kruibeke** on **April 19th**! With the season in full swing, we’ll enjoy a refreshing **2 hour loop** through the largest flood area in Flanders. Expect wide-open green views, the soundtrack of returning songbirds, and the chance to spot some local wildlife enjoying the spring growth. We’ll keep a steady but conversational pace — ideal for soaking up the sun and clearing your head. The walk follows paved paths, but also includes some dirt roads, so be sure to wear appropriate footwear. (It might rain on Saturday, so it could still be a bit wet on Sunday...) If all goes well, we can have a drink at the end of our walk, at the yacht club. (it might be a bit tricky to grab a drink for such a large group: bring some water and snacks just in case...) And, for those going back to Antwerp Steenplein, well, there are tons of bars over there! *** ### The Commute: Catch the Waterbus ⛴️ For a scenic start to the afternoon, we recommend taking the **Waterbus** from Antwerp: * Departure Point: Steenplein (Antwerp City Center). * Departure Time: the boat leaves at 1:30PM sharp. (6euro return ticket, no cash!) * The Experience: enjoy a breezy 17-minute ride down the river Scheldt. It’s the perfect way to see the Antwerp skyline before we dive into the greenery of Kruibeke. (alternatively, you can arrive by bus 93, or via the ferry Hoboken-Kruibeke)

Some Sundays don’t end at lunch. After the garden BBQ event we do every Sunday ([link here](https://www.meetup.com/the-club-connect-share-explore-enjoy-repeat/events/313489633)), a smaller group usually stays around, and the evening slowly takes its own direction. Sometimes we play cards. (Uno, Undercover) Sometimes we go for a game of pool. Sometimes we end up exploring a bar or dancing somewhere in the city. There is no fixed plan. Since we have been reading some quite heavy books lately, we decided to do a round of something lighter for the spring. Our April read will be the famous bestseller, *The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo* by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job. Summoned to Evelyn's luxurious apartment, Monique listens in fascination as the actress tells her story. From making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the '80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way, Evelyn unspools a tale of ruthless ambition, unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love.

Glad to organise a film meetup for this tender astonishing heart breaking yet at peace documentary by the Belgian director Caroline Guimbal. An extract from her description: « My mother Nathalie will die in two years. My son will be born in nine months. From the past remains a spiral of violence and precarity we still have to decipher. But also the strength of my mother, and the poetry in her way of being in the world. By filming her, I learn to see through her eyes. » This is in French with English subtitles. **Karaoke Night**: Bring your glee club friends. Enjoy a flashback to your choir days. No chorus line. It's all you baby. Sing. Shout. Scream. Lip sync if you need to. Dodgeball is back again! If you’ve been wanting to come out, this is an easy one to join. We’ll be playing for about 1.5 to 2 hours, you do not need to bring any equipment, and no experience is needed. We use a specific set of rules and equipment to make the games run better and keep them fun for everybody, not just people who already know how to play. If it rains, the event will be canceled.
