Us convidem al nostre acte en el marc de la Festa Major del Casc Antic de Barcelona 2026 i del Dia Internacional de les Persones Refugiades. Farem la projecció a l’aire lliure del documental *“Shahid: créixer o morir a Palestina”* i una xerrada sobre l’experiència de la infància en contextos de guerra, desplaçament i migració, tant a Cisjordània com en altres parts del món. Comptarem amb la participació dels directors del documental, Joan Giralt Filella i Andreu Merino Vives, i de Qusay Abu Salah, de Palestina, que compartirà la seva experiència personal sobre com va viure la seva infància en aquest context. **Aquest esdeveniment està organitzat per Open Cultural Center i Refugees Welcome Espanya, en el marc de la Festa Major del Casc Antic de Barcelona.**

**Reforestation project in Brazil** Come to join us for a **presentation and discussion** about the **reforestation and protection of one of the world's most threatened biodiversity** **hotspots** \- the Atlantic Forest in Brazil\. “Tito Garcez is a **Brazilian conservationist** and the **founder of Instituto Santuário da Mata**, a non-profit organization focused on **protecting and restoring the Atlantic Forest in northeastern Brazil**. Originally trained in tourism, Garcez pivoted toward environmentalism after living in Patagonia, Argentina, where he realized the importance of living harmoniously with nature. Upon returning home, he witnessed the severe disappearance of local forests and wildlife, which inspired him to **launch long-term initiatives centered on biodiversity conservation**, **ecological restoration** and **environmental education**. Today, he successfully blends his background by **promoting wildlife watching** and **nature-based tourism** to foster an **appreciation for the environment** while **financially and socially supporting conservation efforts**. His current visit to Europe stems from relationships built with international volunteers and researchers, and he aims to use this trip to strengthen global partnerships, secure **expanded support for his conservation projects, encourage scientific research, and foster new international collaborations**. The **Instituto Santuário da Mata** operates in **Sergipe, Brazil**, managing a private **nature reserve recognized by UNESCO** as part of the **Atlantic Forest Biosphere Reserve**. The organization targets the protection of critical, highly threatened biodiversity hotspots by combining ecological restoration with deep community engagement. Its primary initiatives include monitoring endangered wildlife, such as the Coimbra Filho's titi monkey and the maned sloth, reforesting degraded areas, creating wildlife corridors, and hosting international volunteers and educational programs. La propuesta de esta actividad es participar en una visita comentada de la exposición *“Los Nabís: de Bonnard a Vuillard”* que se celebra en la sala de exposiciones de La Pedrera. Los Nabís fue un grupo de artistas franceses que emergió a finales del siglo XIX bajo la influencia de la pintura de Paul Gauguin y el arte japonés. El grupo reunió a más de una docena de artistas de personalidad diversa, pero con intereses comunes, como la dimensión simbólica y emocional de la pintura, o el interés por las formas depuradas, los colores intensos y la exploración de la superficie plana del espacio plástico. La exposición es una oportunidad de conocer con detalle a este grupo singular de creadores que se autoafirmaron como “los profetas” del nuevo arte, y que históricamente se sitúan en la transición entre el impresionismo y las primeras vanguardias históricas. La muestra reúne cerca de 200 piezas de artistas como Paul Sérusier, Pierre Bonnard, Édouard Vuillard, Jan Verkade, Élie Ranson, Maurice Denis, Félix Vallotton o el escultor rosellonés Aristide Maillol. La exposición está comisariada por la historiadora de arte Isabelle Cahn, especializada en Los Nabís y conservadora del Musée d’ Orsay, museo que ha colaborado en el proyecto que se presenta en La Pedrera de Antoni Gaudí. La actividad tiene un costo de 16 euros que incluyen la entrada a la exposición y la visita comentada.

We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “Create a better world” by helping serve those in need. NOTE: We’re switching it up this time and going with a DINNER shift on Mon, 7/6. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for DINNER from 4:30 to 6:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 4:20pm and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map.
