Hike with Waterfall: Ambri to Faido (16km · 600m up · 800 m down · T1 · 4:30h)

Details
Let’s make the most of late summer with a scenic hike in the beautiful upper Ticino valley. Our route leads from Ambri to Faido, passing through the charming village of Prato in the Leventina, up to Dalpe, and on to one of the area’s highlights — the Piumogna waterfall (https://www.myswitzerland.com/de-ch/erlebnisse/der-piumogna-wasserfall/), a perfect spot to pause, relax, and soak in the views.
This is a day to enjoy sunshine (fingers crossed!), fresh air, and great company. We’ll have a picnic lunch on the way and take time at the waterfall before continuing down to Faido, where our hike finishes.
Schedule:
- 11:09 Ambri-Piotta train station. Please wait for the train from the north.
- Start hike with picnic lunch + waterfall break
- Around 17:00/17:30 arrive at Faido
Costs:
- Train tickets (the Coop SBB day pass for CHF 55 is probably the best option)
What to bring
- Hiking shoes or boots
- Picnic lunch, snacks, and enough water (no restaurant/shopping stops)
- Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses)
