Wednesday at Esperanto House – Discovering Esperanto Literature

There are over 25 000 Esperanto books (originals and translations) as well as over a hundred regularly distributed Esperanto magazines. This is despite the fact that Esperanto has only existed for around 130 years. This is about the same number as the entire literature of Iceland during the last 1000 years.

At this meetup we will present the history and development of Esperanto literature, from its first publications to the establishment of the Esperanto Wikipedia with over 200 000 articles (Icelandic has 45 000).

During the break, we will provide free coffee, tea and Esperanto music and author readings.

Host Rainer Kurz is the former president of the German Esperanto Association, currently visiting Australia. He initially learned Esperanto for 20 hours until he did his first Esperanto travel (to Japan). In the meantime he has used Esperanto to travel to over 40 countries.

Estas pli ol 25 000 Esperantaj libroj (originaloj kaj tradukoj) kaj pli ol cent regule distribuitaj Esperanto-revuoj. Ĉi tio estas malgraŭ tio, ke Esperanto ekzistas nur de ĉirkaŭ 130 jaroj. Tio estas proksimume la sama nombro kiel la tuta literaturo de Islando dum la lastaj 1000 jaroj.

En ĉi tiu renkontiĝo ni prezentos la historion kaj evoluon de la Esperanta literaturo, de ĝiaj unuaj eldonaĵoj ĝis la starigo de la Esperanto-Vikipedio kun pli ol 200 000 artikoloj (la islanda havas 45 000).

Dum la paŭzo ni liveros senpagajn kafon, teon kaj esperantan muzikon kaj aŭtorolegadojn.

La gastiganto Rainer Kurz estas la eksprezidanto de Germana Esperanto-Asocio, nuntempe vizitanta Aŭstralion. Li komence lernis Esperanton dum 20 horoj ĝis li faris sian unuan Esperantan vojaĝon (al Japanio). Intertempe li uzis Esperanton por vojaĝi al pli ol 40 landoj.
