Ethereum Foundation 2018 preview: Vitalik Buterin Keynote

Details
Ethereum Singapore and Digix, with our co-organisers, are proud to bring together a session for Vitalik Buterin, widely known as the visionary behind Ethereum.
Born in Russia in 1994, Vitalik migrated to Canada in 2000. He started getting interested in Bitcoin and blockchain technology in 2011, following which he co-founded the publication Bitcoin Magazine. Whilst in university, he spent majority of his time on crypto projects, which made him decide to drop out of university in order to travel and exclusively study blockchain technology. Realising that there was a gap for a more general protocol that could support more applications and contracts, then-19 year-old Vitalik began envisioning a new open-source, decentralised protocol. This was the start of Ethereum.
For this keynote, you can expect discussion ranging from the following topics:
• 2018 overview of Ethereum
• Update on Proof of Stake (PoS) and Casper
• Roadmap ahead and scaling issues for Ethereum
• Competing chains on the topic of scalability
• Ethereum Foundation plans for the remainder of the year – what’s left to be done
Karl Floersch will be doing a 15 minute tutorial on the Plasma implementation. For more information on the Ethereum blockchain and Ethereum Foundation:
