Building peer-to-peer marketplaces with Origin Protocol

Details
We're happy to have Josh Fraser and Franck Chastagnol share how they are building peer-to-peer marketplaces with Origin Protocol [1]. Josh is co-founder of Origin Protocol, Frank is a senior engineer at Origin and was an early engineer at PayPal, YouTube and Dropbox. Their abstract follows:
"Almost 25 years ago, the way people bought and sold goods and services would forever change with the advent of Craiglist and eBay. Rather than buying directly from businesses, users would be able to buy and sell with one another. Since then, many innovative marketplaces have grown to incredible sizes using this framework. While they are often described as peer-to-peer marketplaces, the truth is that they are more accurately peer-to-giant-corporate-monopoly-to-peer marketplaces with a rent-seeking middleman sitting in the middle of every transaction, collecting egregious fees along the way.
"By building on the Ethereum blockchain, Origin Protocol has created a platform to enable developers and entrepreneurs to quickly create decentralized marketplaces that are truly peer-to-peer in nature, lowering transaction fees, promoting free and transparent commerce, serving the unbanked, and giving early participants in the community a stake in the network. Our code base is 100% open source, and we do all of our collaboration and communication out in the open.
"In this talk, Origin will demo their marketplace DApp that's live on the Ethereum network. They will also explain the technical details of how they built features like decentralized identity, trustless purchase flows, escrowing funds in a smart contract, arbitration, messaging, and more."
