What we’re about
Thanks for considering joining Ethnic Food Lovers of South Florida.
We're a diverse group of mostly singles and mostly aged 55+, but everyone is welcome to join us at food and drink events across South Florida, from Fort Lauderdale to West Palm Beach.
We come together for the joy of eating, drinking, making new friends, and sharing our travel and dining experiences.
There is an emphasis on positivity and gratefulness rather than on complaining and criticizing.
The group is a safe environment for all. There is a zero tolerance for harassment of any kind. Insulting, disrespecting, or berating waitstaff, event hosts, or fellow members is likewise ill-advised.
We do not rotate the same tired restaurants week after week, with the same members showing up event after event.
There is never a group charge.
Our events fall into two categories: hosted restaurant events organized by me and others, and unhosted events that range from cooking classes to food festivals.
For the latter type, follow the link to purchase tickets for each event as soon as possible, as some of these events sell out quickly.
The group only lists these events, does not sponsor them, and depends on members to determine if each event is appropriate for them.
The only costs to you are associated with unhosted events that you choose to participate in, and of course, your food and drink at hosted events!
At hosted dinner events, we order entrees.
For breakfast and lunch events, we generally order what we wish, although ordering something significant, whether an omelet, salad, or a sandwich, will ensure that we’ll be welcomed back to the restaurant in the future.
Separate checks will always be issued wherever we eat.
We leave political and religious discussions to other meetup groups and our friends, neighbors, and family members outside the group.
We limit our phone use when we're together and focus on eating and socializing.
You're sure to fit right in if you value civility, humor, and good conversation.
Bring a good appetite and your gift for gab.
Please also be sure to post your favorite ethnic eateries on our discussion page and enable all group messages.
Now, let's eat!
Steve
PS Please consider joining Not Just Another Broward / PBC Activity Group for festival listings, singles events, and much more!

Dona Arepa, 515 NE 20th Street, Boca Raton, FL, USVenezuelan cuisine centers on staples like corn (in the form of arepas and cachapas), plantains, and rice, with popular dishes including Pabellón Criollo (shredded beef, rice, black beans, and plantains) and Arepas (cornmeal patties with various fillings).
Other beloved dishes include Hallacas (corn dough with meat, wrapped in plantain leaves) and Tequeños (cheese-filled pastries).
The cuisine's flavor profile often includes aromatic spices like cilantro, cumin, and oregano, along with fresh fruits and vegetables from Venezuela's tropical climate.
Our destination has an amazing selection of choices from fish to pork to beef, and of course, chicken.
In addition, it features a mini grocery store where you can purchase frozen versions of many menu items.
Reviews are as expected, and I have eaten there with compliments to the service, quality of food, and quantity of food.
And did I mention this was a woman-owned business?
See you all there!!
