We may avoid doing and experiencing things we truly value if there is a chance they might occasion painful emotions and thoughts. This makes our lives empty, bleak and meaningless. It might feel as if the walls were closing in and our lives were getting smaller and smaller every day.

A few examples:

  • We may try to stay busy, overwork ourselves and neglect other areas of our lives in order to keep an emotion of loneliness and emptyness from coming.
  • We may withdraw ourselves more and more from seeing our family and friends to avoid feelings of worry, dread or anger.
  • We may avoid engaging in a truly loving relationship to avoid remembering to our past trauma of abuse.

In this event:

  • You will learn how to reconnect with your innermost desires, needs and values and how to act in accordance with them even when you feel emotional pain.
  • You will learn how to learn from your negative emotions and how to evolve using them.
  • You will tap into an inexhaustible source of motivation by learning how to get in touch with what’s truly important and meaningful to you and what you want to stand for in life.

This event will be highly experiential (i.e. we will do exercises to learn and adapt), although some theory will be presented (<20% of the time). Being late may prevent you from participating in the exercises or understanding what's going on.

The session, it's exercises and theory are from an evidence-backed approach, called Acceptance and Commitment Training / Therapy.

This is an online event, you can find the link at the meetup event's page (under the title "Online Event"). The meeting is hosted on Google Meets a browser based Zoom. There's no need to download anything just click on the link, allow access to your camera and microphone and wait for me to let you into the room.
