Learn how to become grounded, calm and present even in the face of difficult thoughts and images regarding the future or past.

  • We can spend much of our time dwelling on the past or disappearing into our worries about the future. E.g. “Will I still be healthy in 10 years’ time?”, “What does my boss think about my last presentation?”, “Will my partner leave me?”, etc.
  • We can relive a painful event over and over again as vividly as when it was actually happening.
  • We can predict a dark future and bad outcomes in any situation and we can experience these thoughts and images as if they were happening in the present moment. This then provokes anxiety.

In this event:

  • Your worries about the future may make it feel like you are in a horror movie. You will learn to step out of this movie and watch it as if you were in the cinema, rather than a character in the movie.
  • You will learn how to stay in touch with the present moment and focus on what’s important in the now.
  • Your worrying thoughts about the future and dwellings on the past will gradually lose their ability to upset you.

This event will be highly experiential (i.e. we will do exercises to learn and adapt), although some theory will be presented (<20% of the time). Being late may prevent you from participating in the exercises or understanding what's going on.

The session, it's exercises and theory are from an evidence-backed approach, called Acceptance and Commitment Training / Therapy.

This is an online event, you can find the link at the meetup event's page (under the title "Online Event"). The meeting is hosted on Google Meets a browser based Zoom. There's no need to download anything just click on the link, allow access to your camera and microphone and wait for me to let you into the room.
