Welcome to Exit9 PlayLab — a bi-weekly creative workshop in Central Jersey for adults who want to shake off the rust, reconnect to their instincts, and explore acting + improv in a supportive, collaborative environment.
This isn’t a traditional acting class.
This isn’t a drop-in improv jam.
This is a play lab — part exploration, part craftsmanship, part ensemble-building.
We warm up, play, improvise, run scenes, try exercises, experiment with text, and build trust. Every session is structured but flexible, with room for voice work, movement, improv drills, cold reads, partnered exercises, and whatever creative sparks show up in the moment.
If you’ve ever thought:

⭐ Who This Group Is For
Adults (typically 20s–50s) who:
have some background in acting, theatre, improv, or performance
want to reconnect with their craft
want a consistent creative practice
enjoy collaboration and ensemble energy
can commit to showing up regularly
are open, curious, playful, and respectful
You do not need to be a professional.
You do need to be willing to play, explore, and be present.

folks who chronically RSVP and no-show
those who want to perform at others rather than with others
anyone looking for a formal class with a single teacher
people who aren’t comfortable doing creative work in a small group
This is a curated, collaborative space — consistency matters.

Each 90-minute session typically includes:
physical + vocal warmups
presence + connection work
improv exercises
scene exploration
text play
character work
movement-based creativity
ensemble exercises
experimentation and discovery
Every session is designed to help you let go, open up, and rediscover creative flow.

Because the group is small and collaborative, we ask new members to fill out a brief interest form before joining. This helps us make sure the vibe stays aligned, supportive, and creatively alive.
