What we’re about
This Meetup group is composed mainly of Ex-Jehovah's Witnesses who are at different stages of recovery from disfellowship/inactivity/disassociation with this religious organization.
Most of us have endured some level of hardship due to shunning from family and friends who are still active members in the religion. The purpose of the group is to be of support to each other, while fully respecting each others views, whatever they may be now. We believe that there is something to gain in coming together and sharing our experiences about life after the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Discrimination of any sort is not tolerated in the group. This is also not the place to try and "convert" ex-Witnesses to other religions or promote a personal business interest. At meetups, we may discuss our differences (and agree to disagree) but we never belittle other member's thoughts.
The vast majority of meetups are in public places around/near Chicago, usually for coffee or lunch. The reservations or name given will be in the name of "Sparlock", unless otherwise indicated. If you wish to remain anonymous to the group members you may do so. If you have any questions regarding the group you can always contact the organizer directly.
