Spend the last weekend of September 2023 exploring the legendary Enchantments Zone from our basecamp at Upper Snow Lake!

Group size maximum is 8 people.
Permit fees will be divided evenly among participants (8 people=$20/each).

Day 1, Friday 9/29: We meet up near Leavenworth and carpool our group members to the parking lot at the Snow Lakes Trailhead. We then hike 8 miles and climb 5,000 ft to Upper Snow Lake (elv. 5,500) where we will create our group’s base camp for the duration. You’ll only have to carry those heavy ‘luxury items’ these 8 miles in and out 😊.

Day 2&3, Sat/Sun 9/30-10/01: From our base camp there are many options for exploring the Enchantments area, walking within this unique landscape, perhaps shooting photos with that great camera and lens you lugged along. A few ideas/examples are…
Hike to High Priest peak (elv. 8,235ft) for views of much of the zone’s lake area. 6.3 miles r/t
Ascend Little Annapurna (elv. 8,458ft) for views of the Ingalls valley and southern vistas. 9.2 miles r/t
Attempt to dip a toe in every named lake along trail 1553.

Day 4, Monday 10/02: We pack up camp, leaving no trace, and descend the trail back the way we came to the Snow Lake Trailhead. There would be the option for part of our group to depart on Sunday instead of Monday, as long as keys to a vehicle can be left with the Monday return crew.

There are great many accounts of there being beautiful, clear cool weather at the end of September with photos of the golden autumn larches at sunset to go along with them. However, know that there is also a potential that the weather could prove unfavorable for this trip. We’ll keep a close eye on the forecasts heading into that weekend.

Please read this trip report from an old hiker, for a cautionary account of potential challenges.

To Attend..

Add yourself to the Waitlist. Don't worry, we waitlist everyone for overnight trips. RSVP priority will go to people we've met on a day hike with Hikerizons at some point and where your dependable character is known by others in this group.

Sign the Liability Waiver, if you haven’t already.

(If you signed the liability waiver for a past event with this group, you don’t need to sign it again)

Our group cares more about who we are going with than where we are going. This means we won’t take off and leave you, we are very fun and social, and we hope you will join our community based-hiking and backpacking group.

Community based hiking and backpacking group? Yes, we are not destination-of-the-week based with 12 strangers, and then next week a new hike with 12 strangers.
