The screening starts promptly at 18:00, but we recommend arriving a little earlier to make sure you have time to find your seat.

The film follows Max, a struggling American painter living in Helsinki, who discovers an antique diary that he believes once belonged to the legendary Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani. What begins as a source of inspiration slowly transforms into a dangerous obsession, drawing Max into a haunting spiral of visions, addiction, and self-destruction.
As Max becomes increasingly consumed by Modigliani’s legacy, his relationships begin to unravel. His intense and complicated connection with Julia, a devoted dancer, and his friendship with art manager Leo become entangled in a story of ambition, betrayal, and the pursuit of artistic greatness. The more Max tries to follow in the footsteps of the great painter, the more he risks losing himself in the darkness behind the myth.

The Curse of Modigliani is a 2025 psychological drama written and directed by Diana Ringo. Inspired by the life and legend of Amedeo Modigliani, the film explores the fragile boundary between genius and madness, and the sacrifices artists make in the search for recognition.

Shot in Helsinki, the film stars British actor Edward Pishiyski (Sandman, Black Mirror) as Max. The film is in English.
