What we’re about
Welcome to the Expat Women in the Houston Loop group! We started this group in 2013 for women expats moving to Houston and living inside the 610 loop (West U, Heights, Bellaire, Braeswood, Montrose, Medical Center, Memorial, Rice Military, Downtown) to make it a bit easier for us to find each other in a city of 8 million! Our goal is to foster friendships and help one another settle and prosper in the Houston. Some of our members are long term US residents and others are cycling through on 2-5 year assignments. Because Houston is so huge (almost 600 square miles), for friendships to flourish, it helps to live near a new friend. Therefore, we limit membership to the area in or near the Houston 610 loop.
We meet twice a month on Friday mornings at 9:30 for coffee, chats, the laughter of friends and shared experiences, and the opportunity to talk to those who know the experience of living abroad and moving (or moving back) to Houston. It’s also an opportunity to find out about living in Houston from those who are more settled, but remember being new here. We are truly an international group of women of all ages. While we enjoy hearing about hobbies and interests, this is not a group for business solicitations so please respect that. Despite our name, men are welcome too.
In order to be approved for the group, you must have a profile photo that shows your face and also tell us in which part of Houston you are living and where you’ve lived overseas. Please answer the questions to be approved. If you haven’t done so, you may be contacted by an admin (Fiona or Lynda) requesting the information.
We also have a Facebook presence for those who use it. It can be found at: www.facebook.com/groups/639465472791705/
Thanks and we look forward to you joining us and getting to know you.
