What we’re about

Do you wanna try Ikebana (Japanese Flower Arrangements) in central Tokyo? Come join one of these introduction workshops "Experience Ikebana Tokyo."

・Friday night in Asakusa hostel @ Chapter Two Tokyo  60 minutes

・Saturday morning in Kiyosumishirakawa @ LYURO 60 minutes

・by reservation at a small tea room @ Atelier Shoro with Japanese garden in Sakurajosui (10m from Shinjuku/Shibuya).  100 minutes

My friend recommended me to create the Ikebana group at MeetUp; since Ikebana still may be mistaken as the distant Japanese traditional arts and comfined by rigid rules and don't do this and that.

Contrary to all above, Ikebana is something everyone can enjoy eveyday with love for nature and eyes for living things that change over seasons and dies in the end. Ikebana is also like the painting, expression of arts using plant materials. Plants materials are often perfectly beautiful in its natural states and what humans can do to reproduce it in another place? It starts from observing plant color, shape and texture.  With help of the nature, man’s hand expresses artistic inspiration and make your own Ikebana.

What are special about  "Experience Ikebana Tokyo"?

During the introduction workshops, you will actually use seasonal plant materials and express yourself by Ikebana. So reservation recommended to secure seats, but walk in welcome. Also, this is the great entry point to understand the idea of beauty in Japan.Ikebana has long history starting around 5th C and institutionalized around 15th century. It has developed hand in hand with tea ceremony and just like Japanese garden and architecture, Zen teaching underpins Ikebana, also known as "a Way of the Flower.

ok....now...

Each location has its own charm...so please read the reservation sites and check out photos and location details. For instance, Chapter Two Tokyo is located in very central Asakusa and comfy cozy hostel; you can easily meet other travels as well as Japanese who are wanting to make friends from overseas ( ). The LYURO is very chic hotel with brewery and cafe restaurant overlooking the river, the town Kiyosumishirakawa is very arty, with many galleries and 3rd wave coffee shops; I love starting my  Saturday morning from here and enjoy afternoon exploring the town (see this video).

*I have an opening campaign right now; and first 10 guests are charged with the cost of only plant material of 1000JPY ( reservation required) . Right now 5 seats are remaining so hurry and be the last 5 guests to enjoy the discount price.
