Join us for a special summer evening that combines a relaxing sunset hike with one of Mt. Takao's most beautiful annual events.

We'll hike up Mt. Takao in the late afternoon via the scenic Inariyama Trail, enjoying beautiful forest views and great conversations along the way. Reaching the summit before sunset, we'll enjoy a picnic dinner, take photos, and spend time getting to know each other while watching the sky change from golden orange to deep blue.

After sunset, we'll descend through the peaceful atmosphere of Mt. Takao to visit the annual Light Pilgrimage (灯りの巡礼) and experience the Shitō Goma Fire Ceremony (柴燈護摩) at Yakuoin Temple.

For this special evening, the temple approach and the Buddhist Stupa are beautifully illuminated in blue, creating a magical atmosphere that can only be experienced once a year. We'll also experience one of Mt. Takao's most important annual Buddhist ceremonies, where monks perform a sacred fire ritual while offering prayers for peace, good health, safety, and the fulfillment of wishes.

This event is much more than a hike. It is an opportunity to experience Japanese culture, beautiful nature, breathtaking sunset views, and meaningful international friendships—all in one unforgettable summer evening.

🌟 Special Event (August 22 Only)
As part of this hike, we'll visit the annual evening event at Mt. Takao Yakuoin Temple.

🔹 Light Pilgrimage (灯りの巡礼)
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

The temple approach and the Buddhist Stupa are illuminated with beautiful blue lighting, creating a peaceful and unforgettable atmosphere perfect for a summer evening.

🔥 Shitō Goma Fire Ceremony (柴燈護摩)
Starts around 6:30 PM

Witness a traditional outdoor Buddhist fire ceremony where monks offer prayers for peace, good health, safety, and the fulfillment of wishes. This is one of Mt. Takao's most impressive annual spiritual events and is rarely experienced by international visitors.

Around 5:50–6:00 PM – Arrive at Mt. Takao Summit
6:00–6:40 PM – Sunset picnic dinner, photos & social time
6:40 PM – Begin descent via Trail 1
Around 7:15–7:20 PM – Enjoy the Light Pilgrimage and experience the Shitō Goma Fire Ceremony at Yakuoin Temple
Around 8:20 PM – Return to Keio Takaosanguchi Station

We'll meet outside the ticket gates of Keio Takaosanguchi Station at 4:00 PM.

The organizer will be holding an "Explore Nature Tokyo" sign.

If you're running late, please send a message through Meetup.

We will leave promptly at 4:10 PM.

📢 Important
Please bring your own picnic dinner or light meal.

We'll be hiking after sunset, so please bring a flashlight or headlamp.

If heavy rain is forecast, the event will be postponed or canceled.

Please RSVP only if you plan to attend.

We'll take group photos during the hike and share them afterward.

The event officially ends at Takaosanguchi Station.

夏の特別な夜、高尾山で夕焼け・ナイトハイク・伝統行事を一度に楽しみませんか？

今回は、通常のサンセットハイクに加え、高尾山薬王院で年に一度開催される「灯りの巡礼」と柴燈護摩を訪れる特別企画です。

夕方から稲荷山コースをゆっくり登り、山頂では夕焼けを眺めながら各自持参した夕食や軽食を楽しみます。

その後は夜の高尾山を歩き、幻想的にライトアップされた薬王院へ。

青く照らされた仏舎利塔や参道を散策し、日本の伝統的な護摩法要の雰囲気を体験しましょう。

自然だけでなく、日本文化や夏の特別な雰囲気も楽しめる、この日だけの限定イベントです。

初心者の方、お一人での参加、外国人との交流を楽しみたい方も大歓迎です。

今回のハイキングでは、高尾山薬王院で開催される夜の特別行事を訪れます。

🔹 灯りの巡礼
18:00～20:00
薬王院の参道や仏舎利塔が美しい青い光で照らされ、夏の夜ならではの幻想的で落ち着いた雰囲気を楽しむことができます。

🔥 柴燈護摩
18:30頃開始
僧侶による伝統的な屋外の護摩法要を見学します。
平和、健康、安全、願いの成就などを祈る、高尾山を代表する重要な伝統行事の一つです。

17:50～18:00頃　高尾山山頂 到着
18:00～18:40　サンセットピクニック・夕食・写真撮影・交流
18:40　1号路より下山開始

20:20頃　高尾山口駅 到着・解散

Escape the summer heat and discover a different side of Kamakura — from peaceful forest trails to the Great Buddha and the ocean at sunset!

Looking for a beautiful summer adventure and a chance to meet new international friends? Join us for a late-afternoon hike connecting Kita-Kamakura, Kamakura's forest trails, the Great Buddha, Hase, and Yuigahama Beach.

We'll start at Kita-Kamakura Station and follow the Kuzuharaoka–Daibutsu Hiking Trail, passing through peaceful forests, historic shrines, and the hills of Kamakura before reaching Kōtoku-in and the Great Buddha.
We'll visit the Great Buddha up close, then continue toward Hase and Yuigahama Beach. As the afternoon turns into evening, we'll enjoy the changing light, relax by the ocean, and make our way toward Kamakura Station.

FOREST → GREAT BUDDHA → OCEAN → SUNSET🌲✨

This is more than sightseeing. It's a journey through Kamakura's nature, history, and coastline — experienced on foot and shared with other people.

This event isn't about hiking as fast as possible or checking off as many sightseeing spots as possible. It's about enjoying nature, having great conversations, meeting new people, and creating unforgettable summer memories.

Whether you're new to hiking, new to Tokyo, visiting Japan, or simply looking for a beautiful way to spend a summer evening, you're very welcome to join us!

夏の暑さを少し忘れて、いつもとは違う鎌倉を歩いてみませんか？

今回は、鎌倉の森を歩き、歴史ある神社や寺院を訪れ、鎌倉大仏を間近で見て、最後は海辺で夕暮れを楽しむ特別なハイキングです。

北鎌倉駅から葛原岡・大仏ハイキングコースを歩き、静かな森や葛原岡神社、源氏山周辺を通り抜けながら、高徳院の鎌倉大仏を目指します。大仏は遠くから見るだけではなく、境内に入り間近で見学します。

その後は長谷方面へ下り、由比ヶ浜へ。午後の光が夕方の色へ変わっていく時間の中で、海辺でゆっくり語らったり、新しい友達と交流したり、写真を撮ったり、浜辺で自由に遊んだりしながら、夕暮れの時間を楽しみます。
これは単なる観光ではありません。鎌倉の自然・歴史・海を、自分の足で歩きながら、一緒に楽しむイベントです。

速く歩くことも、観光スポットを急いで制覇することも目的ではありません。自然を楽しみ、会話を楽しみ、新しい仲間と出会い、夏の夕方にしかできない特別な時間を一緒に過ごすことがこのイベントの目的です。

ハイキング初心者の方、東京に来たばかりの方、日本を旅行中の方、新しい友達を作りたい方、そして自然の中で夏の夕方を過ごしたい方まで、どなたでも大歓迎です！

3:20 PM / 15:20 – Meet at the West Exit of Kita-Kamakura Station (JR) / JR北鎌倉駅西口改札外に集合

3:30 PM / 15:30 – Start walking / ハイキング開始
Afternoon / 午後 – Walk through the forest via Kuzuharaoka Shrine and Genjiyama / 葛原岡神社・源氏山周辺を通り、森のトレイルを歩きます

Around 5:00 PM / 17:00頃 – Arrive at Kōtoku-in and visit the Great Buddha / 高徳院・鎌倉大仏到着、大仏見学

5:00–5:15 PM / 17:00–17:15 – Photos and sightseeing / 写真撮影・見学
Around 5:15 PM / 17:15頃 – Leave Kōtoku-in and walk toward Hase / 高徳院を出発し、長谷方面へ

Around 6:00 PM / 18:00頃 – Arrive at Yuigahama Beach / 由比ヶ浜到着

6:00–7:00 PM / 18:00–19:00 – Beach time: relax, chat, take photos, or enjoy some fun time on the beach / 海辺でゆっくり語らったり、新しい友達と交流したり、写真を撮ったり、浜辺で自由に遊んだりしながら、夕暮れの時間を楽しみます

7:00 PM / 19:00 – Leave the beach and walk toward Kamakura Station / 浜辺を出発し、鎌倉駅方面へ

🥾 DIFFICULTY / 難易度

Easy to Moderate
This is a relatively easy hiking route suitable for beginners with a reasonable level of fitness. However, this is still a real forest trail, with some uneven, rocky, and occasionally steep or slippery sections. Please wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes.

初級〜中級。比較的歩きやすいハイキングコースで、ある程度の体力があれば初心者の方でもご参加いただけます。ただし、舗装された道だけを歩く観光コースではなく、岩場、凹凸のある場所、多少のアップダウン、滑りやすい場所があります。歩きやすいスニーカーまたはトレッキングシューズなど、足元が安定する靴でご参加ください。

This is not a race or a fast-paced hike. We'll stay together and enjoy the trail at a comfortable group pace.

速く歩くイベントではありません。参加者全員でまとまって、無理のないペースで自然を楽しみながら歩きます。

The event officially ends at Kamakura Station around 7:30 PM. If anyone would like to continue the evening, you're welcome to join other participants for dinner, drinks, or a café nearby. Participation is completely optional.

イベントは19:30頃、鎌倉駅で正式に解散します。解散後、希望者がいれば、近くで夕食やカフェなどをご一緒することもできます。参加は自由です。
