About us
Saihara, the village I call home. A "seriously" rural spot just an hour and a half from Tokyo.
It's aging, a bit fragile, and might blow away in a strong wind, but the people are warm and the old-fashioned countryside scenery is still very much alive.
Old houses that feel frozen in time, hills, waterfalls, and hiking trails all around.🥾
Ingredients you won't find anywhere else.🍙
The elders here are incredibly friendly,
and many are still out working their fields well into their 80s and 90s.🧑🌾🥕
In spring, cherry blossoms turn the village pink.🌸
In summer, playing in the river is the best kind of cool-down.🏊💦
In fall, the leaves burn bright red.🍁
And in winter, you can harvest yuzu, the local specialty, just about everywhere.🍊
Let's spend some slow, easy time outdoors together in Saihara, exploring this village where nature and culture come together!
Through this group, I'm on a mission to help Saihara thrive again,
organizing events to share its charm and connect you with local artists and residents!

Explore Unfiltered Rural Village | Tokyo Day Trip 🌱
Shinjuku station, Shinjuku Station, Tokyo, JP【Full-day tour by car】
This event is my chance to show off just how beautiful Saihara, the small village I moved to, really is😂I've spent 10+ years traveling as a backpacker myself, and from that experience, I really believe Saihara has the kind of scenery that travelers looking for something real are searching for.
Highlights:
- Real countryside, with no tourist development at all 🌱
- Old Japanese houses surrounded by nature 🏠
- A relaxed walk while learning about the area's history ⛩️
- Lunch featuring traditional dishes made with locally grown ingredients 🍙
- A visit to a hidden waterfall known only to locals 🏊💦
- All transportation by car 🚐Saihara is actually facing serious aging and depopulation. There's no school, no clinic, no supermarket, and at this rate, it's said the village could disappear within a few decades.
But I love this place💎 The people are warm, the water is delicious, and the scenery is amazing! It's such a great place, and I want to invite people here to help revitalize the area. Come visit!
