Want to learn more about San Diego's Backcountry? Then this group is for you. Whether it's the Coast to Crest Trail, Volcan Mountain or the Anza-Borrego Desert, there is always something new to see. This group has activities for people interested in learning more about plants and animals, the history of the region, or the natural landscapes that makes this our backcountry special. Join us for hikes, lectures, walks and other meetups.
Please consider carpooling with people from your area -- we can all do our part to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help the county meet its Climate Action Plan goals.

Shinrin-Yoku (Forest Bathing)
VMF's Volcan Mountain Nature Center, 22850 Volcan Road, Julian, CA, USJoin Janice Smith, VMF’s Outdoor Educator and Certified Forest Therapy Guide, on a guided Forest Bathing walk along Volcan Mountain's ridgeline - a rare opportunity to explore this natural area not typically open to the public. We invite you to slow down during this special restorative journey.
Forest Bathing, also called Shinrin-Yoku, is a practice that supports healing and wellness through guided sensory immersion in forests and other natural environments. It is not a hike with a destination or goal, rather a series of guided open invitations aimed at slowing down and taking time to wander and notice nature.
The walk ends with a tea ceremony, using foraged local plants made by the guide.
Note: This experience is for adults only and is limited to 10 participants.
