Visit to Montsalvat - Montsalvat Artist Community [Online Tickets]

Join us for a Sunday outing to Montsalvat Artist Community. Please note that this trip involves a metro train journey followed by a walk. The walking distance can be found in the description below.

Step 1: Please RSVP to this event on meetup.

Step 2: Please get the entry ticket for Montsalvat. You can choose between options A and B.

Option B: Pay the regular (non tour) entry fee at the venue: $15, Concessions – $10

Step 3: Please pay the Organizer fee ($15) using Trybooking:

Trybooking Tickets will be scanned at the meeting point. The tickets are non refundable and there is no option to transfer the ticket to a different event. The ticket will be refunded only if the event is cancelled or moved. Payments are managed through Trybooking and not Meetup. You will see an "Unpaid" status on your RSVP. The only thing you need is the Trybooking ticket which you will receive by email. I will manually update the meetup payment status closer to the event date.

Meeting Point: Let's meet infront of Timeout at Fed Square at 9:10 AM sharp. We will then walk to take the 9:19 AM train. Please don't forget your myki card.

Montsalvat in Eltham is Australia’s oldest continuously active artists’ community. Founded in 1934 by Justus Jorgensen, it spreads across five hectares (12 acres) of leafy gardens dotted with an eclectic collection of houses, studios, halls, galleries, and stables. The buildings themselves are works of art—constructed by resident artists using salvaged materials, many sourced from Victorian-era structures being demolished in Melbourne at the time.

Today, Montsalvat serves multiple purposes: it hosts exhibitions, performances, conferences, seminars, weddings, and receptions, while also remaining a living, breathing hub where artists in various disciplines still reside and create. Classes and workshops are offered year-round, keeping its creative spirit thriving.

Recognised for both its cultural and historical importance, Montsalvat is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register and continues to attract visitors from around the world who come to experience its unique blend of art, history, and community.
