High Line Walk to Poster House Gallery

We will meet at 6:00 PM at the Mall entrance facing «The Vessel» sculpture at Hudson Yards to begin our walk to Poster House. From there, we’ll access the High Line at its northern entrance near 34th Street and 11th Avenue. The path is an elevated linear park built on a former rail line, with paved walkways, railings, and seating areas. It is wheelchair accessible with multiple access points via elevators and stairs.

As we walk south along the High Line, we will pass through a series of landscaped sections featuring native and ornamental plants. There are periodic benches and areas with tables where we can pause. Attendees are welcome to bring snacks or tea. We will plan for a short break at one of the seating areas around 6:30 PM to eat or sip tea before continuing.

The High Line offers views of the Hudson River, surrounding buildings, and public art installations. We will continue walking past Gansevoort Street, exiting the High Line near 23rd Street and 10th Avenue. From there, we will walk east for a few blocks to reach Poster House, located at 119 W. 23rd Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues.

We expect to arrive at Poster House by 7:15 PM. Admission is free on Fridays, and the museum remains open until 9:00 PM.

Poster House is the first museum in the United States dedicated exclusively to posters. Located in Chelsea, Manhattan, the museum opened to the public on June 20, 2019. Its permanent collection contains approximately 7,000 posters from 100 different countries, including 3,000 pieces related to the 2017 Women's March as well as 98 Subway Series posters. The museum's collection contains works ranging from the late 1800s through the present day. The contemporary works are contained in a living archive that Poster House adds to on a regular basis. The museum draws from both its historic and contemporary collections to stage exhibitions focused on a particular artist, movement, or theme.

Sunset is expected at approximately 8:15 PM, so there will still be natural light for most of the walk. Attendance is limited as Poster House doesn't permit groups over 14 people.
