What we’re about
Explore photography with fellow shutterbugs! Immerse yourself with people who enjoy shooting at great locations throughout Northern California. Every meetup is designed to challenge us as photographers; to discover new techniques, swap tips and ideas, compare equipment and share images. And we have fun doing it!
Anyone with an interest in photography is welcome, whether you are a beginner, a serious amateur, or a professional. If you love to shoot photographs and/or want to find out what is going on in the world of photography, then please join us on one of our scheduled events.

Hello Gold Rush Members and Friends,
With an upcoming Gold Rush workshop on Street Photography coming in October, we thought we would offer an online program on Street Photography before the workshop to get us in the mood—and give us even more information! Please join us on September 13, 2025 at 10:00 AM with the photographer and educator, Rick Hulbert.
The Zoom link will be sent out to registered participants the day before the program.

PROGRAM:
If you are at all shy about photographing strangers in candid situations, this presentation is designed to make you more comfortable.
Rick Hulbert will touch on the photographer’s mindset, potential gear, camera settings, lens focal lengths, storytelling, capitalizing on happenstance, and the concept of “anticipating” the decisive moment.
His presentation is designed to be enjoyed, regardless of your level of experience and expertise in photography.BIO:
Rick‘s photography is informed from his background as a Professional Architect and Urban Designer. He is a "Life Member" of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, and a “Fellow" of The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. His teachings reflect his knowledge of the History of the 2-Dimensional Arts of Drawing and Painting along with the Sciences of Human Vision. He was one of only two photographers from North America invited to attend and display his Fine Art images at the World Art Games held in Bratislava, Slovakia.Heads-up:
This may be the last free online program, as we have to replenish the Gold Rush coffers, but we would just require a Gold Rush membership at $15/year—which is free the first year you join PSA (Photographic Society of America), easy at a workshop or at PSA online. What a deal! Please check out our website at psagoldrush.org to get more information about the PSA Gold Rush Chapter.
