Elm Lightning Talks

Details
We've got a few lightning talks tonight! The folks with Front Range Elm are kind enough to share some Elm knowledge. Talk Summaries:
Sean Helvey
Elm: The Gateway Drug (5 minutes)
A quick talk poking fun at recent Elm memes and highlighting the positive side of statically typed functional programming with Elm.
Adam Neumann (10-20 minutes)
Tandem: MVP’ing a desktop application with Elm & Electron
Tandem is a screen sharing tool designed for developers who remote pair program. This talk explores how Elm and Electron were used to efficiently build a cross-platform MVP.
Brooke Kuhlmann (20+ minutes)
A fun compare and contrast of the Ruby and Elm languages as well as getting started with Elm in a Rails app. Brooke has written the implementation that was added to Webpacker so any Rails developer can use Elm with any newly crafted Rails app out-of-the-box.
Prerequisites:
Basic familiarity or interest in web programming
Schedule:
• 7:00 -- we're open! come say hi and socialize
• 7:30 -- talk begins
• 8:30 -- we all leave Mersive and some of us go to Breckenridge or Blake Street
Accessing the building:
All the doors will probably be locked by the time you arrive, so please go to the side entrance located here: https://goo.gl/maps/nu6NcPbE5PK2 (zoom in to see where the pin is relative to the building). We will have someone at the door from 7:00 until 7:30 -- don't be too late! we'll be watching the comments on meetup, so if you are late, post a comment.
Parking:
Also, if you park in any of the lots to the southwest, southeast, or northeast of the building, you MUST make this sign clearly visible in your window: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6lcKzF_4d2zaVJrdlpGQWdhOEk/view . Otherwise your car WILL BE TOWED. If you park in the Rockies lot to the northwest of the building, your car will be towed whether you have a sign in your window or not, so don't do that.
