Jenkins - Continuous Automation

Jenkins (a.k.a. Hudson) is a continuous automation system that can be leveraged for system crons, dev builds, testing, deployments, monitoring, and much more. It has Perl plug-ins and Perl is tremendously useful for scripting it.
