IoT and Solar Panels in Africa: An Overview of the i-Kabin Project

Details

After the summer break and the recent IoT days in Ottawa; it is now time to resume our monthly meetings with a presentation from Innobec Technologies about their iKabin product.

Abstract
The World Bank estimates that the current “off grid” population of sub-Saharan Africa will grow, from 600 million today, to 700 million by 2024. The severe shortage of electrical power system infrastructure, coupled with the remarkable growth of mobile phone usage in Africa, begs for a “green” battery charging solution that must be mobile enough to move from one remote location to another.
The iKabin solution, developed by Innobec Technologies in conjunction with AESP Green Energy, provides a solar powered solution that incorporates a wide range of software, Embedded and M2M technology to deliver such capabilities.
During this presentation, we’ll discuss the various challenges and solutions associated with this project and take a look at a demonstration.
