This is a group for anyone interested in progressive thought, political ideas and discussion.
Australian political life is entering a new era. There is an urgent need for searching debate and new thinking. We invite you to attend our Melbourne based events with high profile speakers, including an opportunity for discussion followed by dinner and further deliberation at a local pub. It’s a great opportunity to meet engaged people, exchange ideas, and help advance a lively progressive debate.
The group is hosted by the Victorian branch of the Australian Fabians. The Fabians have been at the forefront of research and debate into progressive political ideas and public policy reform for over half a century.
We usually meet at the Melbourne Multicultural Hub, 506 Elizabeth St, Melbourne, Victoria 3000.

Australia's Nature Positive Plan - protecting our environment
Kathleen Syme Library and Community Centre, 251 Faraday St, Carlton, VI, AUSpeaker: Kelly O’Shanassy, former Chair of Australian Conservation Foundation and incoming Chair of Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife.
Topic: The Nature Positive Plan, launched in 2022, sets out the government’s commitment to reform Australia’s environmental laws. These reforms are wide-reaching and ambitious. When will we see measurable improvements? Will they be enough to protect and restore our unique environment? What are the challenges?
Note this event will be preceded by the Victorian Fabians AGM at 7:00pm - all Victorian financial members of the Fabians are invited to attend - details here.
