Session 1 - Ensuring Accessibility in Data Visualisation - Juliana Smith
Ensuring accessibility in data visualization is crucial, especially for the 350 million people worldwide affected by colour blindness. While ideal colour choices improve readability, branding constraints and common conventions, like RAG (red, amber, green) reporting, often limit inclusive design.
In this session, we’ll explore Power BI’s built-in accessibility features, WCAG guidelines, and practical techniques for selecting accessible colours. I’ll also showcase a solution that allows users to toggle between standard and accessible views, fostering inclusivity while maintaining design flexibility.
By prioritising accessibility in reporting, we create equitable experiences, strengthen collaboration, and drive innovation across diverse audiences.
