Get ready for a culinary journey to Indonesia as we return to one of our favorite spots on our World Food Tour! We're heading back to Djarkarta Cafe in Philadelphia to experience the vibrant and aromatic flavors of authentic Indonesian cuisine.
Why You Should Join Us: This corner dining room is a destination for a broad collection of Indonesian specialties, with a focus on the flavors of Jakarta and West Borneo. Lamb satay skewers glossed in sweet soy and peanut sauce and beef shank rendang, whose coconut milk gravy is infused with orange leaves, lemongrass, and candlenuts, are sure bets. There’s also an extraordinary fried chicken glazed in herbal tamarind sauce and a standout noodle bowl with crispy wontons, roast pork, and tiny fish balls, anchored by chewy house noodles tinted green with bok choy.
What's the Plan? We will gather at Djarkarta Cafe to explore their extensive menu, which features a wonderful variety of Indonesian specialties. Prepare your taste buds for a delightful journey through aromatic spices and unique flavor combinations! You can get a glimpse of their menu here: http://djakartacafephilly.com/
The Deets:
- BYOB: Feel free to bring your favorite beverage to complement the meal!
- Cost: We will order a variety of appetizers for the table, and everyone will order their own entree. Expect the total cost to be approximately $25-$35 per person (including tax and a 20% tip). Please bring cash to simplify the bill-splitting process.
- Allergies: If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please inform me as soon as possible so I can notify the restaurant in advance.
- Important: I will confirm your attendance a day or two before the event. If your plans change, please update your RSVP to "Not Going" promptly. This will allow someone on the waitlist to join us or allow me to adjust our reservation. If there is a significant waitlist, I will attempt to increase the reservation size.
- Parking: There is limited street parking available in the area. Carpooling and public transportation are recommended.
Can't wait to share this amazing Indonesian culinary experience with you!
