Next Stop on the World Food Tour: Amma's South Indian Cuisine.
Chef Sathish Varadhan’s essential Indian restaurant focuses on centuries-old South Indian dishes like rasam (lentils with spices and curry leaves), medhu vada (doughnut-shaped fritters), curd rice (rice made with yogurt and spices and curry leaves), idli, and dosas. Amma’s, which has locations in University City and New Jersey in addition to this Center City restaurant, can also cater to your heat-level preference. Pair the delightful food with lighter-bodied red wines, crisp whites like sauvignon blancs or vinho verdes, or pale ales and lagers. It's BYOB so bring our favorite. Check out the menu here.
Bring enough CASH $$$ to make payment easier $45-60. We will get appetizers for the table, each order your own entree, and split the bill. If you have dietary restrictions send a private message to the Host ahead of time.

This event was such a blast the first time I had to do it again. This 6.1-mile loop trail is generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 2 h 25 min to complete.
Park at the south trailhead along Lincoln Drive (40.02894, -75.1905). It is recommended not to leave anything visible in your car. Because parking can be limited, I would suggest carpooling. If you are interested, when you RSVP post your neighborhood in the comments. Members in the same neighborhood can choose to meet at a common location and arrive together.
We will start out on the Orange Trail for a little adventure. This Trail has some elevation, mud, rocks, and roots. These pretty views will make you forget that you are in Philadelphia! Cross Fingerspan Bridge, pass Devils Pool then cross over to Forbidden Drive at Valley Green Drive. We will stop for lunch at the Valley Green Inn! Yummy and great service!
We have a reservation for 10 people at 12:15. The bill will be divided equally including tax and 20% tip. The cost per person should be between $30-40 per person. Please bring cash. After brunch, we will return to the start location by going back following Forbidden Drive for an easier walk. Here is a link to the hike route.
We will meet at 10:15 and enter the trail at 10:30. In the event of bad weather, this hike will be rescheduled. You should bring water and hiking shoes are recommended. The end time for this meetup is estimated. It could end before or after the scheduled time.
I will confirm everyone's attendance a day or two before so that I can adjust the reservation number if needed. If you find that you are unable to attend, please change your RSVP to no at least 24 hours before the event. I hope to see you there. I hope to see you there.
