Elwood Weekend Tea Service
Elwood Restaurant, 1007 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA, USGet ready for a unique twist on a classic tradition! Our next adventure takes us to Elwood in Fishtown for their highly acclaimed Weekend Tea Service. Forget everything you know about standard finger sandwiches; Elwood specializes in Pennsylvania Dutch-inspired country cuisine. We’ll be enjoying heirloom recipes and native ingredients in an intimate, cozy dining room that feels just like being invited into a friend's beautiful rowhome.
Why You Should Join Us: Elwood offers a "country cuisine" version of afternoon tea that is truly one-of-a-kind in Philadelphia. Chef Adam Diltz focuses on local suppliers and historical flavors. Instead of the usual scones, imagine warm biscuits and datch (a PA Dutch quickbread) served with apple butter and clotted cream. From venison scrapple and chilled smoked trout to snickerdoodles and shoofly cake, this is a sophisticated yet rustic culinary experience that perfectly embodies the "rich tapestry of culture" our group loves.
What's the Plan?
We’ll be gathering to enjoy the full Tea Service, which includes a selection of sweet and savory bites paired with local teas from Oma Herbal Teas (grown right in Schwenksville, PA!). It’s a relaxed, refined way to spend a weekend afternoon while engaging in great conversation. You can see the full tea menu and the charming story behind the restaurant here: https://www.elwoodrestaurant.com/tea-service/The Deets:
- BYOB: Elwood is a BYOB! While tea is the star, feel free to bring a bottle of bubbles or a light white wine if you’d like to make it a boozy tea party.
- Cost: The tea service is $35 per person. Please anticipate the total cost to be approximately $45-$50 per person (including tax and a 20% tip). To keep things simple for the staff, please bring cash.
- Allergies: Because this is a set tasting menu involving specific PA Dutch recipes, please let me know about any allergies or dietary restrictions as soon as you RSVP so I can check with the chef.
- Important: Elwood is an intimate space with limited seating. I will send a confirmation message a few days prior to finalize our headcount. Please keep your RSVP updated so we don't leave a small local business with empty seats!
- Parking: Elwood is located at 1007 Frankford Avenue. Street parking in Fishtown can be tricky, so give yourself extra time or consider a ride-share. The restaurant is also a short walk from the Girard Station on the Market-Frankford Line.
I can’t wait to sip tea and share these unique PA Dutch treats with all of you!
