World Food Tour: Indo Spice (Indonesian)

This relatively new, acclaimed restaurant is known for showcasing regional specialties, particularly from Sulawesi, that you won't easily find elsewhere. Prepare your palate for an unforgettable experience that's far beyond your typical Southeast Asian fare!

Indo Spice offers a fantastic opportunity to explore the rich tapestry of Indonesian cuisine. Reviews highlight its delicious, authentic dishes and the wonderfully friendly service. You'll get to sample unique and flavorful specialties like the signature Mie U.P. Noodle and the famously crispy, spicy Smashed Chicken Rice (Nasi Ayam Geprek). Other favorites include the flavorful Red Fried Rice (Nasi Goreng Merah), the savory Pork Satay, and the adventurous soups like Coto Makassar (a beef broth specialty). We'll be gathering at Indo Spice to fully immerse ourselves in their diverse menu of Indonesian specialties. We will order a variety of acclaimed appetizers and small plates to share so everyone can sample a wide range of tastes, and then each person can order their own main course. This is a wonderful chance to explore the distinct sweet, savory, and spicy flavors that make this cuisine so special.

The Deets:
- BYOB: Feel free to bring your favorite wine or beer to complement the rich, complex flavors of Indonesian cuisine!
- Cost: We will plan to order some shared appetizers for the table to sample a variety of tastes, and then everyone can order their own entree. Please anticipate the total cost to be approximately $30-$40 per person (including tax and a 20% tip). Please bring cash.
- Allergies/Spice Level: Indonesian food often features sambal, a chili paste, and some dishes can be quite spicy (like the Smashed Chicken Rice). If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, or are concerned about spice, please let me know as soon as you RSVP so I can inform the restaurant in advance and help you choose milder options.
- Important: I will send a confirmation message a day or two before our visit to finalize the headcount. You must confirm by the morning of the event. If your plans change, please update your RSVP to "Not Going" promptly. This allows those on the waitlist to join us and helps me adjust our reservation accordingly.
- Parking: Indo Spice is located at 1421 West Passyunk Avenue in South Philadelphia. Street parking can be found in the area, but public transportation and carpooling are encouraged.

Let's roll into our next World Food Tour event! We're heading back to Sakura Sushi for a night of fresh fish, creative specialty rolls, and delectable Japanese cuisine. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy high-quality sushi and explore a massive menu that has something for every palate, from classic rolls to savory hot entrees.
Why You Should Join Us:
Sakura is known for its extensive menu, offering everything from beautiful sashimi and sushi platters to unique, mouth-watering specialty rolls like the Pink Lady Roll (wrapped in pink soy paper) or the spicy, savory Dynamite Roll. If you're not a fan of raw fish, no worries—they also offer excellent hot kitchen dishes, including tempura, ramen, teriyaki, and hibachi options. It's a great place for engaging conversation in a welcoming atmosphere while savoring some of the best Japanese flavors the area has to offer.
What's the Plan?
We'll be gathering at Sakura to sample a wide variety of Japanese offerings. Given the extensive menu, we'll order a selection of shared appetizers like Pork Gyoza (dumplings) and maybe a Tuna Tartar to start. Then, everyone can choose their own favorite rolls, sushi, or a cooked main course from the kitchen. This communal approach allows us to try more of what Sakura has to offer!

Part 2: Dancing with 80's Revolution at Parx Casino

After our delicious dinner at Sakura Japanese Restaurant, the night is still young! For those who want to keep the fabulous times rolling or for those who want to join us, we're heading over to Parx Casino for some late-night entertainment and a change of scenery.
Get ready to throw on your neon, tease up your hair, and head back to the decade of decadence! We're channeling our inner rock stars and heading out to Parx Casino to see the 80's Revolution Band—America's ultimate 80's party show! (Video)
What's the Plan?
80's Revolution is known for covering all the massive hits that ruled the airwaves—from Dance Pop (Madonna, Cyndi Lauper) to New Wave to Hair Band Rock (Journey, Def Leppard). They feature a trio of powerful female lead singers and deliver a high-energy show that gets everyone dancing.
The band frequently plays in the Parx 360 venue, which is known for its circular stage and great sound/lighting, making it the perfect atmosphere for an awesome night of music and mingling! It's the ideal low-pressure, come-as-you-are event for dancing, singing along, and connecting with fabulous friends.
The Deets:
- Atmosphere: Expect a high-energy nightclub/concert feel at the Parx 360 venue. Plenty of space for dancing!
- Food/Drinks: Full bars are available inside Parx Casino, including service at the 360 bar. If you do not join us for dinner, you can grab dinner or snacks at one of the many restaurants on-site (like Chickie's & Pete's or the Liberty Bell Gastropub) before or during the show.
- Cost: This is a no-cover event. Plan to purchase your own drinks and food.
- Purpose: To socialize, dance, sing along, and enjoy a high-quality live band tribute to a fun decade!
- Parking: Parx Casino has a massive surface lot and a covered parking garage (free of charge).

We’re heading to Panorama, a Philadelphia legend known for holding the Guinness World Record for the largest wine preservation system. We’ll be gathering in their sophisticated yet welcoming lounge area to kick back and make new friends. Expect an incredible selection of wines (over 120 by the glass!), authentic Italian small plates, and that classic Old City charm. This is a low-key, come-as-you-are event designed for mingling and building those genuine connections that define our community.

Friday, January 9th, 2026, from 4:30 PM onwards. Happy hour pricing (see menu) runs from 4:30 - 6:00. Feel free to drop in whenever you can make it!
