Get ready for another stop on the Fabulous Philly Friends World Food Tour! This time, we're heading to the heart of University City to savor the rich, aromatic flavors of Ethiopian cuisine at Kaffa Crossing. Prepare to dive into an authentic and highly-rated dining experience that's perfect for shared discovery and great conversation.

Why You Should Join Us:
Kaffa Crossing is a local gem known for its vibrant and flavorful traditional Ethiopian dishes, served in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Ethiopian cuisine is a culinary adventure—you'll get to enjoy a communal dining experience, scooping up savory stews and spiced vegetables with soft, tangy injera (a traditional sourdough flatbread). It’s a fantastic opportunity to explore classic dishes like various kinds of Tibs (sautéed meat or vegetables), Ethiopia's signature chicken dish, Doro Wot, and an incredible array of vegan and vegetarian wots (stews) like Misir Wot (spiced lentils). Whether you're a seasoned fan or trying it for the first time, this is an evening of delicious food and lasting connections with your fellow adventurous eaters

What's the Plan?
We'll be gathering at Kaffa Crossing to immerse ourselves in their diverse menu of Ethiopian specialties. Dining Ethiopian style is all about sharing, so we'll plan to order a few of their incredible Vegetarian and Meat Combination Platters to sample a wide variety of flavors, stews, and textures. You can check out their menu and get a preview of the deliciousness here: [Kaffa Crossing Menu Link - Placeholder URL: [https://qmenu.us/#/kaffa-crossing-ethiopian](https://www.google.com/search?q=https://qmenu.us/%23/kaffa-crossing-ethiopian)]

The Deets:

  • BYOB: Please note that Kaffa Crossing is not BYOB, but I negotiated no cork fee if we pay cash, so bring your wine and your cash!!!
  • Cost: We will plan to order a few large sharing platters for the table to sample a wide variety of tastes. Please anticipate the total cost to be approximately $25–$35 per person (including tax and a 20% tip), depending on how many platters we order and what you choose to drink. To make bill-splitting easier, you must bring cash.
  • Allergies/Dietary Needs: Ethiopian cuisine offers a huge range of vegetarian and vegan options. If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please let me know as soon as you RSVP so I can inform the restaurant in advance and ensure we order a perfect mix for the table.
  • Important: I will send a confirmation message a day or two before our visit to finalize the headcount. If your plans change, please update your RSVP to "Not Going" promptly. This allows those on the waitlist to join us and helps me adjust our reservation accordingly.
  • Location: Kaffa Crossing is located at 4421 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19104 in University City.
  • Parking/Transit: Street parking is available, but the restaurant is easily accessible via public transportation (SEPTA Market-Frankford Line to 46th St or various bus routes).

Can't wait to share the incredible, vibrant flavors of Ethiopia with you! Have you tried Ethiopian food before, and if so, what's your favorite dish?
