Get ready for an extraordinary autumn cultural excursion to Lancaster County! Our next group day trip brings us into the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country for a rich blend of regional history, vibrant local culture, and fantastic food. We will explore the historic 1719 Museum, grab a delicious lunch at the world-famous Lancaster Central Market, and end our day at the annual Harvest Days Festival at Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum. Prepare your taste buds and curiosity for an unforgettable fall day!

This curated trip offers a deep dive into the historical roots and living heritage of Lancaster County. From standing inside the oldest surviving stone dwelling in the county to sampling artisanal foods in North America's oldest continuously operated public farmers' market, you'll experience peak autumn in stunning fashion. We’ll finish our afternoon at Landis Valley’s 100-acre living history village for their flagship Harvest Days festival, complete with traditional craft demonstrations, live music, and open-hearth cooking. It’s the perfect opportunity to step out of the city, soak in the fall colors, and connect with fellow curious minds in a relaxed atmosphere.

What's the Plan?
Here is our full schedule for the day:

• 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM | Stop 1: 1719 Museum (Hans Herr House)
  We'll kick off our morning with a guided tour of the 1719 stone dwelling and grounds (1849 Hans Herr Dr, Willow Street, PA). https://mennonitelife.org/1719-museum/
• 11:45 AM – 1:30 PM | Stop 2: Lancaster Central Market
  We’ll gather in the market to sample regional specialties, browse local stands, and grab lunch together (23 N Market St, Lancaster, PA). You can preview vendors here: https://centralmarketlancaster.com/
• 1:30 PM – 1:45 PM | Drive to Landis Valley Museum
  A 12-minute drive north to our final destination.
• 1:45 PM – 4:00 PM | Stop 3: Landis Valley Harvest Days Festival
  We'll spend the afternoon exploring the festival exhibits, historic buildings, craft demos, and seasonal foods before the grounds close at 4:00 PM (2451 Kissel Hill Rd, Lancaster, PA). Explore event info here: https://www.landisvalleymuseum.org/

The Deets:

• RSVP & Group Tickets (1719 Museum): Space is limited to 16 participants. I have reached out to secure a discounted group rate of $10 per person for the tour! Everyone will initially start on the waitlist. To lock in your spot, please send $10 via Venmo to @Randee-Frankel. The first 16 members to Venmo will be moved to "Going."
• Landis Valley Harvest Days Admission: Tickets for Harvest Days can be purchased upon arrival at the entrance gate. Adult admission is $14 ($12 for seniors 65+).
• Food & Purchases: Wandering Central Market is free, but please bring cash or card for your food, tastings, and market purchases!
• Carpooling: Since this is a full-day trip out to Lancaster, carpooling from the Philadelphia area is strongly encouraged! I will open a coordination thread in the comments section a week before the event so drivers and passengers can sync up and split gas/tolls.
• Allergies & Accommodations: Central Market and Harvest Days offer a wide variety of dining options, ranging from gluten-free and vegan pastries to hot prepared regional meals.
• Parking: Free on-site parking is available at both the 1719 Museum and Landis Valley Museum. For our midday stop at Central Market, parking is recommended at the Prince Street Garage (111 N Prince St).
