About us

I thought it would be fun to create a group for connecting with other Christians in the area to go hiking, biking, camping, fishing, etc. because I could not find a group local to San Jacinto Valley. I want our members to feel free to host and share events. Families, couples, and singles of all ages are all welcome to participate in group activities for outdoor fun and fellowship.

Follow the winding path of the beautiful Santa Margarita River on one of Southern California’s most unique trails, a rare chance to hike alongside a flowing river in this region! Towering oak trees arch overhead, creating shady natural tunnels as the trail meanders through peaceful scenery. This popular hike can get busy on weekends, so plan to arrive early. Expect to get wet at the river crossings along the way!

Note: Parking lot opens at 8am, since it does get busy, I recommend you get there early to make sure you get parking.

Bearpaw Reserve Exploration

Join us on this private property managed by the Wildlands Conservatory (I'll get us clearance if you RSVP by 6-1.)
Explore 600 acres of mixed terrain(service road/dirt trail) and fingers crossed water will be at the Colombine Falls on our walk too.

Keep your binoculars ready to catch a glimpse of the spotted owl or flying squirrels the reserve is known for. Bring bug repellant, sturdy footware, your snacks, sunscreen and water. Dogs must be on leash.
Meet us at the parking lot. We will leave by 8:15 and can't come back for you nor will there be a sweep at the end so you cant turn around mid point. We leisurely hike so pacing is done. Recommend hiking boots since we may run into a rattler ya never know.

**Bear Paw will close if there is flooding/mudslides. I will let you know if anything changes our admission on site.
BE CAREFUL on the Hwy 38 as you turn toward Forest Falls you make an immediate Right on a service road. Take driveway over milllcreek to the reserves gate. I'll let you in and then follow road to end of parking lot. Trailhead is next to parkinglot and will go too Columbine Falls and the trails "open" to us.

*If you need to arrive on Saturday, it's fine. Most people can't arrive this early on a Friday due to work

Whitewater Preserve is 2,246 acres surrounded by the Bureau of Land Management’s San Gorgonio Wilderness and includes the year-round Whitewater River. Rich riparian habitat hosts the endangered southwestern willow flycatcher and least Bell’s vireo, and provides opportunity to see migrating summer tanagers and vermilion flycatchers. The canyon has a robust population of bighorn sheep, deer and bear, and is an important wildlife corridor between the San Bernardino and San Jacinto Mountains. The Wildlands Conservancy purchased an additional 3,200 acres in the Whitewater corridor that were donated to the Bureau of Land Management. These donated lands include sand dunes that are home to the endangered fringe-toed lizard at Windy Point, which lies at the confluence of the Whitewater and San Gorgonio Rivers.

The campground is near the Visitor Center, in a grassy area near the restrooms and scenic ponds. There is plenty of room to pitch several tents, set up a propane fire ring with camping chairs, and play outdoor games. The parking lot is nearby, so car camping is also an option.

There are several hiking trails throughout the park, a small wading pond near the campground, and the Whitewater River.

We will hike, play games, go swimming, and look for frogs in the river. If anyone has an instrument and can play a few songs, please bring it along. We are going to be unplugged for the weekend. Please bring any outdoor games you have including corn hole, baseball mitts and balls, horseshoes, a football, etc. Card games are also fun.

Please bring a dish to share for the first night (Friday), plates, napkins, drinks, etc. I will bring chicken shish kabobs, fresh fruit, water, and s'mores for the first night. Please bring a main course, side dish or a desert. Here's a website with camping meal ideas:

I'm looking forward to this camping trip! We have a limit of 20 people, so please RSVP as soon as possible if you plan to attend.

Whitewater Preserve Camping Rules:

Tents and trailers welcome (trailer max length 20 feet and must be detached).

No fires of any kind, including charcoal BBQs.

Propane cooking stoves and grills ok. (I'm bringing my propane fire pit and propane camp stove)

No fishing or swimming in the ponds. (swimming is allowed only the wading pool and the nearby Whitewater River)

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

No electricity or showers are available, but the restrooms are clean

No generators or amplified audio equipment (including speakers) allowed.

No cell service or internet. Guests can receive cell service 3.5 miles south of the preserve on Whitewater Canyon Road.

All camping reservations are subject to cancellation due to hazardous weather conditions.

Suggested donation: $5 per person (not required)

Whitewater Preserve: Hike to Red Dome via PCT

Bring a towel and water shoes! We'll be hiking from the Whitewater Preserve Visitor Center to the Red Dome via the PCT. This is a 4.3 mile intermediate out and back hike with 387 ft. elevation gain, creek crossings, and opportunities for water play.

It's going to be HOT🔥but that's okay, we'll play in the creek, bring plenty of water, and wear sun protection😊

After the hike, we'll bring out our coolers and meet in the shade of the trees of the campground where we will have a picnic💗🙏🏼
