Palm Springs Tram to Round Valley Overnight Backpacking Trip

Get ready to join us for our first backpacking trip to Round Valley Campground on the San Jacinto Mountain in 2025!😊⛺️🌲

First, we will meet at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway Station where we will board the tram and ride it up the mountain to the Mountain Station.🚠

Next, we will go to the Long Valley Ranger Station where we will teserve our spots at Round Valley Campground: $5 per person.

We will hike 2.5 miles to Round Valley Campground. There are pit restrooms and water from a water spigot by the ranger outpost (shed) available, but no showers.

*a water filter or boiling water from the spigot is recommended before drinking

We will set up camp and do some exploring. We will make individual dinners, eat and relax or play games.

Thursday:

In the morning, we will eat breakfast and do a short Bible Study/devotional. Please feel free to bring a verse, song, or story to share.

Following breakfast, we will pack up our things and hike back to the Long Valley Ramger Station. We must check out at the ranger station together.

We will have lunch at the Pines Cafe before riding the tram down.

Things you must know:

No campfires or open flame. you will need to pack your own food and small backpacking propane stove for cooking.

Backpacking stove, utensils, pot for cooking
Backpacking tent
Flashlight or small lantern
First aid kit
Extra socks, clothing, light jacket
External battery charger for phone
Bug repellant/lotion
Lighter
Sun hat
Plastic ziplock bag for packing out trash
Book or game to share
Optional: Wet bag for food storage

Weigh your packpack to make sure t is comfortable to carry a distance. Aim for 15- (less than 30) lbs.
