The plan is to take a walk around the Nasketucket Bay state park. There are a couple of tails with varying degrees of roughness and a surprisingly big variety of scenery and greenery to observe.
I figured we could start on the main bridal trail and then hop onto the Holly Trail to its end and come back on the Salt Marsh Trail until it links back up with the bridal trail. Then on the way out, detour on the Meadow Trail ( should be abuzz with butterflies and other pollinators ).
All together, that should be between 3.5 and 4 miles of easy "hiking" (no real hills to speak of).
Some of these trails do get a little muddy after a recent rain, so if it turns out that it's too muddy to be walking around there in sneakers (I never need hiking boots here), we can still meet in Mattapoisett and pick up the Mattapoisett rail trail, which is part of the South Coast bikeway and is paved and happens to cross the street that Nasketucket's entrance is on just about a half mile up the road.
