Want to build #techforgood to help healthcare workers who have been fighting for us on the front lines?
FEDSA, in partnership with Ubuntu Beds and She Can Do, is hosting a 72-hour, online Hackathon 4 Healthcare where we are uniting the development, design, healthcare and hospitality industries to:
→ Raise funds for healthcare worker accommodation ahead of the third wave of COVID-19,
→ Build #techforgood that can support these Healthcare Heroes and the people they’re saving.
This #techforgood event will give you the opportunity for cross-functional collaboration where you can learn more about your own skills, and the skills of others all while building solutions that support the healthcare community.
👪 Who can join?
Everyone is welcome to join in and bring their ideas to the table. However, the following skills are in high demand:
- Digital Designers (incl. UI/UX)
- Programmers
- Project Managers
- Healthcare Workers
- Hospitality Providers
- Startup Founders
- Students and tech enthusiasts
FEDSA and She Can Do will have some mentors present throughout the event that will be able to help and guide you with any front-end development or UI/UX specific questions.
If you would like to get your company involved, so you can sign up and contribute as a team, feel free to get in touch with Aimee: info@fedsa.org
✨ What can I do before the event?
If you have signed up as an individual, you will be assigned to a cross-functional team of 4-8 members, otherwise, your team will have already been entered as a unit.
Each team will be assigned a healthcare-related problem to solve. These are sponsored topics/problems that have been provided by our network of healthcare professionals. A subject-matter-expert will be available at specified times so that teams can consult them on the problem and proposed solution.
🚀 What will happen on the first day?
We will briefly introduce how the hackathon will work, and make sure it's clear who the teams and subject-matter experts (SME) are. This will take place over one large Zoom call.
Each team will get:
- A dedicated communication channel for constant collaboration
- Time to brainstorm their problem, and
- 1-dedicated hour to chat to their SME about the initial problem.
There will be various check-in points throughout the event to ensure that teams have the support that they need, and are able to make progress on their solutions.
There will be a second chat with the SME available for the team if they need more information or testing on the solution.
If you're not sure what to do, you can join the big central call at any time and we'll be there to help you!
🏆 How will the event end?
We will wrap up the day with final presentations by each team where they will showcase the functional prototype built during the event, or present a story they’ve uncovered in health-care data. Teams will also discuss a roadmap for taking their ideas further after the event.
