Using Web Component in React 19
Details
Talk Description:
The React 19 beta announcement dropped with a bang a couple of weeks ago, and rightfully so - there are a lot of major changes coming to JavaScript's most used framework (at this point in time). However, one change that seems to have flown somewhat under the radar is the addition of full native Web Component interoperability. In this talk, Schalk will explore the state of Web Components in 2024, the massive cascade of implications this change has for the web going forward, and end with a demo of how you can get started with Web Components in React 19 today.
About the speakers:
Schalk is a software engineer and product design consultant working on various personal, commercial, and open-source projects. He usually finds himself at the intersection of interaction design and engineering - having done contract work for the National Treasury, The Google Foundation, Replit, Sea Monster Entertainment, Seedstars, CSS-Tricks, and various others. He has lectured in a senior capacity at the Academy of Digital Arts, codeX, Open Window, and the University of Pretoria, and co-created the Interaction Design degree at Cape Town Creative Academy.
