This is a favorite hike up the side of the mountain. Walk on a road with great views along the way. On a clear day you can see Boston and Mt Monadnock in the distance.

We will hike on Administration road (a gravel and dirt fire access road) up Wachusett Mountain to the auto road, then the auto road for the final leg. Some sustained uphill climbing (this is a mountain) but no scrambling up rock. We will proceed at our usual tortoise pace.

Distance: about 4.5 miles

Gain: About 700 feet
Tortoise time: About 3 hours

No dogs on this hike.

We will meet at the gate near Machias Pool at the end of Westminster Road on the south side of the mountain. (Not at the visitor center on the east side).

Set your GPS to 82 Westminster Road, Princeton, MA. You will see the Administration Road gate on your right, and cars parked along Westminster Road. There is no sign for the Administration Road. You can park on Westminster Road.

We will be walking up gravel/dirt and paved roads. We will not be going up the trails. After hanging out at the summit and enjoying the view we will head down the the same way.

You will need hiking boots or walking shoes with good tread. Bring water and some snacks! Sun screen, and a hat are recommended.
