Mt. Wachusett from Admin Road gate via Echo Lake and Jack Frost Trail

Details

We are hiking up Mt Wachusett via the Echo Lake, Jack Frost, Mountain House trails, and returning back down along the admin (dirt) road.

Some long sustained climbing (this is a mountain) but no scrambling up rock. The trail surface is uneven with roots and rocks. We will proceed at our usual slow tortoise pace.

Distance: about 4 miles
Gain: About 700 feet
Tortoise time: About 3 hours
No dogs.

We will meet at the gate near Machias Pool on Westminster Road on the south side of the mountain. (Not at the visitor center on the east side). We will be walking up trails. After hanging out at the summit and enjoying the view, we'll head down back down.
You will need hiking boots or walking shoes with good tread.

Bring water and some snacks or lunch! Insect repellant, sun screen, a hat, and hiking poles if you use them.

Dress in layers.

Location - 82 Westminster Road, Princeton, MA

NOTE: We are NOT leaving from the main entrance on Mountain Road. Please read the directions carefully! Westminster Road intersects with Mountain Road about 2.5 miles south of the main entrance. If you look at the map, you will see where we are meeting at the Administration Road gate off of Westminster Road. Administration Road is an internal gravel road in the park, and there is no road sign for it. You will see cars parked along Westminster Road.
