(Our last hike was cut short, so this is a do-over.)

Gates Pond, located at the end of Taylor Road in Berlin Massachusetts, is an easy 2.5 mile loop around Hudson’s water reservoir. There are some migratory birds that use Gates as a resting spot during their travels. It’s not uncommon to see Canadian Geese, ducks, blue herons, and such enjoying the pond. There is a dirt road that circles the pond that is plowed in the winter, muddy in the spring, and shaded by tall pines in the summer. And we will definitely take the little side trail to King Philip's Rock!

Weather says partly sunny and high-50's. Please wear sturdy shoes or boots and dress in layers. BRING WATER and a snack. I always use hiking poles.
Leashed, well-behaved dogs welcome.
Kids welcome - do not add as guests, but mention in the comments.
There is a huge boulder known as King Philip Rock off of the main trail.
HERE is a cool video about its history!
Trail map HERE. Meet at the parking lot at the end of Taylor Road.

🐢 Tortoises roam free (and always will!) but alas, MeetUp still charges a fee! If you’d like to contribute, here’s where you can send a donation! Thanks!
