Preact and using the Context API

React Context — a set of properties that a parent component can automatically share with multiple child components — has taken off in popularity since the release of React 16.3 finally included a stable context API. Preact, a React-API-compatible virtual DOM implementation in just 3kb, has supported Context for several releases.

At Synacor, we use Preact’s Context to efficiently share data between multiple components at scale. We'll discuss several ways to use Context across multiple components, developed by multiple teams.
