Welcome to Find-A-Grave Faulkner County!
Our group is dedicated to helping individuals locate and document grave sites across Faulkner County, all while enjoying the outdoors and the company of fellow cemetery enthusiasts. As the organizer, I am a member of Find A Grave and have signed up to receive notifications about requests for graves in our area.
We'll be exploring a variety of cemeteries throughout the county, with most of our visits centered around Conway. I aim to select locations that aren't overly large, ensuring that the requests and the number of volunteers in our meetup group are compatible.
Here's how our process works:
Notification and Visit: When I receive notifications about requests for gravesites in our area, I'll schedule visits to the relevant cemeteries. I'll share the details with the group so that interested members can join in.
Exploration and Documentation: During our visits, we'll explore the cemetery grounds and search for the requested headstones. Once we find them, we'll take photographs and document the relevant information, such as inscriptions and dates.
Sharing and Collaboration: After our visits, members can upload the photos they've taken to our meetup photos section. This allows for easy sharing and collaboration among group members. When uploading, please include any special engravings found on the headstone in the photo caption. Additionally, please ensure that you select the correct photo album, as indicated by the cemetery name in the specific meetup. This helps organize our collection and ensures easy access for all members.
Uploading to Find A Grave: As the organizer, I will download the photos from the photo album and upload them to the appropriate Find A Grave memorial pages. This ensures that requested gravesites are documented and accessible to those searching for their ancestors or loved ones.
Our group provides a fantastic opportunity to explore local history, engage in volunteer work, and connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for cemetery preservation and genealogy. Whether you're interested in photography, historical research, or simply enjoy spending time outdoors, there's something for everyone in our group.
