Anatomy texts rarely have accurate drawings of the female organ, often omitting the clitoris entirely. When women have surgeries and procedures, and doctors are unaware of the location and structures, the resulting damage and permanent loss of sensation can be profound.

So if texts, and nearly the entire medical system have no clue where it is or how it functions, what hope do we mere mortals have, especially in the face of massive cultural and religious messages that a 😺 is dirty, shameful, and to be kept hidden away?

It turns out we are the ones who have been leading the change of tide all along.

Women advocates, teachers, Ob/Gyns and urologists have been on a mission to get text books updated, and to educate women about their own bodies.

When I speak with women about their genitals, I often get blank stares and averted gazes. Our families, culture, & religions conditioned us with shame, embarrassment, and fear about our 😺s.
