About us
Free community hikes in Ventura, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara counties, led by Five Miles Further's professional, certified guides: Wilderness First Responders and outdoor educators. Every hike lists its FMF Rating (miles, elevation gain and terrain) so you know what to expect before you come. Hikes run about once a month, with rest stops built in.

Rock Garden: free guided community hike, Simi Valley area
Simi Valley area, Simi Valley Area, Simi Valley, CA, USA little-known ranch in the Simi Valley area with sandstone outcroppings to explore. A short loop of about 2 miles and 400 feet of gain, with frequent rest stops and a snack break halfway. Family friendly. Meet at 8am for a safety briefing and gear check; back at the cars by 1pm. Free, led by Five Miles Further's guides. Register on fivemilesfurther.com to get the meeting spot and what to bring. Space is limited.
Decompression Days are Five Miles Further's free community hikes: a chance to meet other hikers and get outside in Ventura, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara counties. FMF Rating 1A.1 (Miles, Gain, Terrain; explained on the event page). Five Miles Further brings some snacks; bring something to share if you like.
