A tornado (EF1) tore through the forest northwest of Flagstaff on October 21 around 540 AM. If you ever wanted to see what a "weak" tornado can do to a ponderosa pine forest, now is your chance! We will meet at the parking lot at Highway 180 and Snowbowl Road and carpool/drive from there. We will take FR222 about 5 miles west of Highway 180. Bring STURDY shoes/boots, water, and some food. The forest floor is grass with hidden rocks. We will be making our way around and over fallen trees. The damage path is at least 3.25 miles long. But, we won't go the whole distance.
