This meet up group is dedicated to the ongoing development , sharing, and education of new, experienced and professional firearms enthusiasts. A meeting place for like minded people to explore and enjoy the safe and effective use of firearms for defense, security and hunting purposes.
All classes listed are either conducted by or sponsored by Florida Firearms Training. We also welcome our members to advise and post up other firearms related events to the site.....Let us know what you want and we will endeavor to deliver it!

Okeechobee Shooting Sports, 7055 NE 48th St, Okeechobee, FL, USCourse Brief: This 3-Day Immersion Course takes the student through Levels One and Two of our Advanced Defense Handgun curriculum in an extended format allowing for more repetition of drills while learning to shoot under stress. Through repetition, skills and abilities will be established and honed. Progression is based on a building block concept to a level where learned skills become instinctive.

Skills and Requirements Needed Coming Into this Class:
- Must be comfortable shooting on your own in a traditional static range environment.
- Must have shot at least 1000 rounds through the gun you will be using prior to this class (500 rounds of which must be within last 12 months).
- Must understand how your gun functions and be able to load, unload, show clear. Students who need help with loading or unloading their firearm (or magazine) or struggle with understanding and handling basic malfunctions are not prepared for this class.
- Must be familiar and competent with your chosen handgun and using consistent fundamentals at a level of unconscious competency.
- For semi-automatic handguns, must be able to pull the slide back and lock it open (back) and clear a malfunction (jam).
- Must demonstrate a firm understanding of and respect for basic firearm safety rules and range etiquette.
- Must possess the mental and emotional fortitude to handle the stress of shooting in close proximity to other people. You will be working from a holster, shooting and moving NEXT to other shooters without barriers between you.
- Must have a valid concealed weapons license and present it to the instructor upon check-in. If you do not have a valid Concealed Weapon License from a US State, let us know at booking and we will provide directions on how to provide a background check in lieu of this requirement. Background check reports must be received no later than 3 business days prior to the class.

- A Standard Strong Side Carry Holster for your Chosen Handgun (Click Here for Holster Guidelines)

NOTE: Some of the drills and skills taught in this curriculum are NOT SAFE to be conducted with ANY ported barrels and or compensated pistols. Therefore, if you bring a ported or compensated pistol, you should also bring another NON ported/ comped pistol or a SIRT or blue gun to be able to participate in those specific drills.

$375 Late Cancellation Fee for changes or cancellations made within 7 days of class.

Advanced Defensive Carbine
Okeechobee Shooting Sports, 7055 NE 48th St, Okeechobee, FL, USCourse Brief: This class is for anyone who has a fighting rifle / carbine such as the AK, AR, platforms etc and wants to learn how to use them effectively in a realistic environment. This is an all-day on-range course for the serious shooter wanting to get the most from this weapon system. Some of the items covered in the course are Standing, Kneeling and Prone Positions, Shooting On The Move, Shooting From Cover, and Reloading Techniques including Speed Loads and Tactical Reloads.

Skills and Requirements Needed Coming Into this Class:
- Must be comfortable with chosen firearm while shooting in a traditional static range environment.
- Must be familiar with basic manipulation and use, cleaning and breakdown of chosen firearm. Students who do not understand how their firearm functions and how to clear basic malfunctions are not prepared for this class.
- Must have shot at least 1000 rounds through the rifle you will be using prior to this class (500 rounds of which must be within last 12 months).
- Must be familiar and competent with your chosen rifle and using consistent fundamentals at a level of unconscious competency.
- Must demonstrate a firm understanding of and respect for basic firearm safety rules and range etiquette.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extend periods of time. This class has a physical difficulty level of moderate. Students should be capable of getting into and out of kneeling, sitting and prone positions numerous times throughout the day.
- Must have a valid concealed weapons license and present it to the instructor upon check-in. If you do not have a valid Concealed Weapon License from a US State, let us know at booking and we will provide directions on how to provide a background check in lieu of this requirement. Background check reports must be received no later than 3 business days prior to the class.This is an ADVANCED class. Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and demonstrate the required minimum skills listed above, will be removed from training.

- Your Chosen Magazine Fed (Semi Auto) Rifle with a Stock that has been zeroed. Pistol and Rimfire Calibers and SBRs are acceptable.
- 500 Rounds Rifle Ammunition (This may be purchased at the range.)
- Tactical Sling, 1 or 2 point or 2-1 convertible
- Minimum of 5 Rifle Magazines (The more the better!)
- Magazine Pouches to allow carry of 2 Spare Rifle Magazines
- Full-wrap Eye and Ear Protection (May be rented from the range.)

*Rifles need to be set up and ready to shoot, with the required sling attached, sights/optics zeroed, etc. Do not show up with un-prepared or untested firearms.
